BEYOND THE CLASSROOM WINDOW

ACTION ACTIVITY:             Astronomy – Yerkes Observatory

 

Research indicates that the bond that exists

between the student and the teacher is directly proportional to the students’ willingness to absorb information presented.  Understanding this concept, the learning strategy called “Beyond The Classroom Window” utilizes action activities designed to promote, enhance or reinforce this bond.  Proper preparation and application of this strategy creates an atmosphere of “family.”  Discipline problems are replaced with a desire for learning adventure.

Special Note:                Lead your students into the world of space by combining with Yerkes Observatory (Wisconsin).  Request information related to the ARCs program.  Connecting will also provide you with the opportunity to take your students to the observatory for “hands-on” experience on a 24” telescope.
