Student Quotes

This trip was one of my first charitable donations of my time, but I don’t see it being the last. We helped so many people and changed so many lives that I would like to have this opportunity again. The people that we helped made me realize how rewarding it is to give assistance when people are in need.

Damian Foster

Going down to Mississippi was a chance of a life time for me because around here there aren’t very many opportunities to do the kind of relief work we were involved with down there. Also after all the trouble and hard times the people down there have been through every little bit of work that we could to do help out was appreciated. It took me a day or two to realize it but I came back feeling better than I had expected to before we went down.

The Waveland trip really made an impact on my life because it reinforced the idea that we need to help those around us. The opportunity to serve others is only limited by our own initiative, and this trip helped me realize that it does not matter what you do, who you are, or what they think of you. If you truly make an effort to help those in need there will be work for you to do, and they will be blessed through those efforts.                                         Paul Stark

The trip to Waveland was a very educational and memorable for me. I had a lot of fun and my experiences in Waveland will never be forgotten. I feel like I achieved something in Mississippi, and it makes me feel good about myself. The Waveland trip is what I really needed; it made me more mature and makes me grateful for everything I have such as a home which I used to take for granted.

Not many teenagers receive the chance to give back to the community and help others like we have this year with the Mississippi trip. Now we have been able to do so for two years in a row and the feeling of accomplishment will never get old. The trip not only provides this sense but it also gives us experience in tasks we might never have had a chance to do otherwise. The trip will definitely be a memory that will stick with me the rest of my life and be something in which I can reminisce.                                                                                                                                        Mathew Prest

The Waveland trip this year was another great experience just like last years trip down to Biloxi. We had better living accommodations, but both trips made an impact on my life. You don’t realize what all you have and how you take everything for granted. But when you go and see homes and people who have nothing at all it kind of makes you think of how lucky you really are to have a house to go to, and all the clothes and other items you own. When we were down there we did little jobs but I am sure that the people down there greatly appreciated all the help. This will be a life time memory that I hope to never forget.                                                                                                     Wesley Engelage

I’m glad I had the chance to help the people in Waveland MS. It was a great experience to be there and witness the damage and the way the people are living after the hurricane

The trip to Mississippi this year was a great experience for me and many other students. Not too many people get the chance to go down to Mississippi and work on the houses and buildings that were damaged from the hurricanes.

The chance to go down to the coast again this year was an awesome experience. Last year we suffered from many obstacles such as bad living conditions and getting sick. This year was a lot better, we got a lot done and had a better place to stay. It is a very special privilege to be able to go down and help and hopefully we can continue in the years coming.

                                                                                                                                                                      Brandon Meyer

The trip to Waveland MS. was a great experience for me as well as the other students that went down to the gulf coast. Even though this is my first year learning and actually working with construction, I thought that I did well at working there. I would really enjoy going down to the Gulf Coast region once again, because it was a great privilege and an awesome opportunity to work on the peoples houses that needed our help.

                                                                                                                                                                   Matthew Kohlhaas

This year on our trip to Mississippi we helped many people, but we didn’t get to do the work we thought we were going to be doing. Mostly we just did odd jobs for people around the area. All around I think this year was much better than last because our food and our living quarters were much better.                                                       Levi Gardner
